NEU Company scope of work encompasses renovating and modernizing the electricity grid in Lebanon. This mandate goes beyond the technical modifications at stake. For this reason, NEU is working on different levels to ensure a positive impact on the communities being served.
Public awareness campaign on violations:
Losses within the grid are divided into two parts: technical and non-technical losses. NEU Company is undertaking major efforts in that area and has assigned a whole team to ensure that energy wasted and violations of the grid are minimized, in order to reduce harm to the network.
The wide scale of violations harming the network, coupled to a wrong mentality within the public, has lead to a severely damaged network that is costing EDL, customers and Lebanese people, huge sums of money by having to rely on expensive and highly polluting alternatives in order to generate electricity.
NEU Company has set as an objective to remove all the grid violations that cause a hazard to the population, in addition to the visual pollution, not to mention the technical overloading of the grid. In close collaboration with EDL, NEU is organizing periodic violation removal campaigns in various regions of allocated Lot 3. We believe that the road to a violation-free network is attainable but will need everyone's commitment.
Environment protection and preservation:
NEU Company is undertaking a wide number of initiatives in order to preserve the environment we work in. All broken down poles were removed and replaced with new clean ones that abide by international standards. In collaboration with Lot 3 municipalities, NEU initiated a program to promote awareness for the benefits to be generated by our scope of work. For the municipalities that preserve their grid and have the least violations, NEU will consider in return building or rehabilitating green public areas.
NEU’s commitment to the environment does not only target Lot 3 area: it is also implemented in-house. Indeed, NEU Company’s fleet is composed of highly efficient cars to guarantee the least possible pollution of the environment. In addition, all NEU offices are equipped with “recycle” boxes in collaboration with companies that recycle all used papers.
